Established in March 1993, C.I.S.K.M.V. is a women’s college in rural area. It was started with a mission to promote girls education and bring them in the main stream. Till now, the college is igniting the lamp of education constantly and serving the people of the area. The college was opened in a small ‘dharamshala’ with 160 students and 11 teachers and now it has a huge property spread over an area of 8.5 acres. It all has become possible under the stimulating stewardship, hard work and dedication of late Ch. Ishwar Singh ji together with the enthusiastic lobby of villager’s of the area. In the beginning teachers would go to the villages to fetch the girls but with the passage of time people of this area have awakened and now girls themselves come to the college for admission. Girls from villages situated in the radius of 30 kilometers come to the college. For this noble cause, the college provides transportation facility as Ch. ji used to say “I will bring education to your (villagers) doors”.
The college is providing education in all the three streams viz Humanities, Commerce and Science at both UG and PG levels. The college provides ample facilities for development of an integrated personality. It has a fine library containing more than 12000 books. The college has vast play grounds for outdoor games like basket ball, kabaddi, kho-kho. Indoor games are also available. There is a gym with all modern equipments. Daily yoga is also practiced in the able supervision of an instructor. Practice of ‘Hawan’ connects girls with their culture and also makes them morally upright.
Student’s societies play a vital role in the total life of the college. For many subjects there is a society which organize discussions and stimulates interest in the subject. There are many other societies covering a wide range of activities, such as debating, dramatics and social service. Cultural activities are organized to help the students give expression to their talent.
The college awards a number of prizes each year to students for high achievement in academic & extracurricular activities. Scholarships and other financial aids are given to deserving students on the basis of need-cum-merit.
